Nancy Hemendinger will demonstrate how HealthSmart lessons address eating disorders, body image and media literacy beginning in kindergarten and continuing through secondary school. Workshop will outline how Suffolk County has implemented the HealthSmart curriculum within 51 school districts. The Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool (HECAT) and the National Health Education Standards will be discussed as criteria for selecting comprehensive health education that addresses eating disorder prevention and awareness. Presenter will discuss how she has utilized The National Eating Disorder Association’s resources in school and community settings.
