In this session, attendees will learn about the background of non-suicidal self-injury including epidemiologic data, clinical presentations, and risk factors. They will learn how to thoroughly assess self-injury and learn about treatment including pharmacology and therapy. The attendees will also learn about common reactions to self-injury by parents, school personnel, and clinicians and how to manage and discuss self-injury with these diverse groups. Finally, attendees will learn about and how to manage the contagion effect of self-injury.
