This presentation will explore the complexity of both the barriers to eating disorder diagnosis and access to care, as well as the protective factors and support resources among minority populations. Dr. Brooks and Ms. Molinary will discuss the role of acculturation on eating disorder risk factors such as body dissatisfaction, and explore what it means to provide culturally relevant care to those affected. The presentation will particularly focus on African American and Hispanic communities.
