Intuitive Exercise and Recovery: Personal, Professional and Practical Perspectives

Given the complex relationship between exercise behavior and disordered eating, as well as the fact that most clinicians have no formal training in exercise science, eating disorder professionals lack clear guidelines regarding if, when and how much exercise to recommend for medically stable patients during the treatment and recovery process. Additionally, perspectives from recovered patients are conspicuously missing in this context and warrant our attention. This workshop will provide attendees with a review of the relevant literature on eating disorders and exercise, tools for assessing clients relationship to and readiness for exercise and practical examples of incorporating intuitive exercise into their recovery process.
